Who better to ask to find out their top picks of the amazing places to eat and drink in Yorkshire!
With the county having a strong foodie scene, we’re spoilt for choice. Whether that’s a casual street food pop-up to experiencing a full-on tasting menu in a Michelin-starred eaterie, we’ve got it all. With a strong focus on locally sourced ingredients, a visit to Yorkshire must include good food and drink.
Here’s where you’ll find our team enjoying their good food and drink…
The Humber Fish Co., Hull - Jennie's choice
Humber Street in Hull is becoming one of my preferred places to visit. Located on the edge of the Marina it offers a vibrant collection of restaurants, galleries and independents. It’s also not far to stroll into the old town; in my view an underrated part of the city!
I’ve eaten at the Humber Fish Co. a couple of times, and the ambience is lovely. Especially on a sunny day when they open the front to the restaurant onto the street. I’ve enjoyed a number of dishes, the most memorable being Mussels Thermidor which were amazing!
The Pipe & Glass Inn, South Dalton - Jennie's choice
Set in the stunning village setting of South Dalton, in a beautiful, old English inn, The Pipe & Glass has been a family favourite for a long time, and many special occasions have been celebrated there. The menu is ever-changing with seasonal and local themes running through it. I generally choose a veggie option as they are always so creative and delicious!

Krep, The Shambles Food Court, York - Jason's Choice
The Shambles Food Court is a real foodie haven with a diverse array of food vendors, so there’s something for everyone. I have chosen Krep because they do a fantastic ‘Galette Complet’ a savoury pancake- folded into a handheld feast - probably the most authentic galette outside of France!

Haxby Bakehouse - The Unit Cafe, York - Jason's Choice
For a sweet treat I would go to Haxby Bakehouse – every time. Great Roost Coffee on offer, and I’d choose a sweet treat like their classic Croissant or a Cinnamon Bun. All the pastries are made in-house, and you can see them baking them at the back of the café.
The Wellington Inn, Lund, nr. Driffield - Ben & Esther's Choice
Always first-class food and drinks served here, never had a bad meal. Love the place! I would always recommend the Calf’s Liver (amazing!), and Esther always has the Seafood Thermidor, but beware the plate is always hot!

Stuarts of Driffield - Ben & Esther's choice
Great for a quick chippy tea! They have an extensive menu, not just serving fish and chips. With great portion sizes, you won’t come away hungry! Alongside their menu, they also offer a good selection of beers and wines. I would certainly recommend the Seafood Salad. Delicious! The Westwood, Beverley - Sara's choice
For a special treat I always head here for a bit of fine dining and a delicious steak; dinner with the friendliest service around. I would start with a Crispy Duck Salad, then Fillet Steak with Blue Cheese Sauce. I recommend this restaurant to everyone I know!Yuzu Street Food, Pocklington - Sara's Choice
For a casual, chilled get together with friends I would head here at the weekend. An East Asian inspired street food pop-up at the Market Tap, they also have permanent pop-ups in York, Harrogate and Leeds. My menu choice would be the Loaded Pulled Beef Brisket Fries and Chicken Katsu Curry. A great menu using the best quality local ingredients.

Zucco, Meanwood, Leeds - Jo's Choice
A top choice for me as the atmosphere is always relaxed. The food (Italian small places) is always outstanding, and I’ve never had a disappointing meal there. My favourites from the menu are Arancini, Braised Beef Parpardelle, Caprese Salad, Deep Fried Zucchini & Mint, all washed down with a few Aperol Spritz!

Loaf, Far Headingley, Leeds - Jo's choice
My favourite spot for breakfast and brunch. The staff are always friendly, and the coffee always hits the spot. The menu is so good it’s always hard to choose from! I love the Turkish Eggs and the Arepas (corn cakes), but my absolute favourite is their veggie breakfast bun, which not only tastes phenomenal, but is great value too.Robinsons Cafe, Bishopthorpe Road, York - Arvyda's Choice
I have simple tastes. My favourite time of day to eat out is brunch time, and Robinsons is the place for me. I like it because in a weird way it reminds me of London cafes; it’s busy and buzzing all the time and the food is the best! My choice off the menu is Turkish Eggs with Sourdough, but they always look after me when I visit and build my own brunch off the side orders – sourdough, poached eggs, and smoked salmon is my go-to!

Forge at Middleton Lodge, nr. Richmond - Marcelle's Choice
Always keen to save up the pennies and tick off another Michelin-starred restaurant in Yorkshire and beyond, and to date I’ve luckily never found them to be style over substance. My most recent visit was to experience Forge’s seasonal ten-course tasting menu.
This fine dining restaurant can be found on the Middleton Lodge Estate on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, has an informal style. The head chef, Jake Jones, produces delicious and refined dishes, each inspired from the pickings from their kitchen garden. The kitchen staff visited the table with each dish and shared their food stories and the journey of the food to the plate. Fascinating.
Memorable dishes were the Dry Aged Nidderdale Hogget with Mint Pickled Turnip and Pickled Mustard Seeds, and a Forced Rhubarb Tart! We’ve kept the menu from the evening, along with the memories and can’t wait to go back again.
