Welcome to our new website!

Oh my goodness where do I start. My feet have only just touched the ground and it already seems that I am taking off again!

Let me start by welcoming you to our brand new website. It has been many months in the making and I’m glad to say if you are reading this then it has gone live!  Adam and I decided to re launch the site about this time last year. Work finally started in January and nine months later here we are. The aim of the new site is to make it much more usable for you. Our recipes page is ever growing and you now have the facility to search for recipes by the product you wish to use. We have a very self indulgent ‘We love’ page that is our selection of Yorkshires finest restaurants, producers and places.  Finally we have access to much more information about events, shows and stockists and much more.

So – what have we been up to? We have been attending shows across the country including our debut at the BBC Good Food Show this summer. It was an amazing show to attend due the wide range of producers there and the wide range of public that visit from across the UK. We were one of four rapeseed oil producers attending and I have to say it was amazing the range of products and flavours we offered between us. Rapeseed oil varies in flavour from brand to brand – soil type and seed variety both have an influence on the flavour and I find it so interesting when you get the opportunity to taste other producer’s oil. Following the BBC Good Food we have been to many agricultural shows (including a slightly damp Yorkshire Show) and our first Huddersfield Food Festival – the venue for my first ever cookery demonstration!

Amongst the craziness of shows we have had one of our most important times in the farming calendar – Harvest. All our crops have now been successfully gathered in, including our very important oil seed rape. This year has been a little different for us as we have had a two year old to contend with. The thought of tractors and combines fills him with delight (luckily for us so do farmers markets!) This does supply us with some fantastic if not unusual ‘family time.’ See photos of our combine in action on our new 'Field to Table' Slideshow on the homepage.

So onwards towards Christmas! This year we are breaking away from the boundaries of Yorkshire and heading both to the Birmingham NEC for the ‘Grand Designs Show’ and to ExCel in London for a more conventional ‘Taste of Christmas.’ We must not forget the event that we are organising ourselves at the slightly more local ‘Robert E Fuller Gallery’ on the evening of the 6th November. The event has been named ‘Taste the Wolds’ and is an invitation to do just that. It will be a gathering of local producers all based within the Yorkshire Wold’s area, and opportunity to meet, taste and shop direct from us – the producers. Watch this space for more detailed information.

Finally we are delighted to announce that our Natural Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil has been awarded a ‘Gold Star’ in the prestigious ‘Great Taste Awards.’ The judges commented that our oil had “A good clean, soft, rounded flavour with a lovely nutty finish and bright vegetal flavours. Delicious.” We do hope you agree!

 Until our next blog...
