Happy New Year!

Happy Christmas and New Year to everyone, I hope you have recovered from the excitement of the festivities!

Yesterday saw the return of our team to the farm for the beginning of 2014. After a few weeks on our own here it is nice to have everyone back and hear what everyone has been up to and, of course, talk with renewed enthusiasm for the year ahead (we did all seem a bit weary by the end of 2013!). I do have to say though that the two weeks over Christmas and New Year for us is a rare time to be alone on the farm. I am delighted that we have a fantastic team around us working with Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil, Six Valley Lamb and our Farm, but both Adam and I do delight in the quiet of the festive period.

Once upon a time there was only Adam, myself, Ben on occasion and Alec who worked on the Farm with us, whereas now we seem to have a constant hustle and bustle of people to keep us entertained and occupied! I can’t help, over this time of year, to think back to winter 2007, when our oil shed was being built, we were planning our wedding and YRO was only just a thought in our minds. How things have changed!

In 2013 we welcomed our new YRO team member Jason (who Adam and I both knew from our school days and comes from a neighbouring farm in Fridaythorpe) and our new Shepherd, Rob (Lucy’s brother, and our great friend). And we also had a little addition ourselves in September, our daughter Ivy Beatrice. Adam was invited to join the Deliciously Yorkshire Board of Directors, something he was delighted to do as the company is very close to our hearts.

So, as well as looking back I can’t help but also look forward. We have lots planned for the year ahead, some new products, some new shows, and some things that shall remain untold until later in the year! But for now all that remains is to wish you all a very happy New Year and to thank you all for your support in 2013.
